The project

USI illustrated The Magic Lovey for Fern Greene: 24 illustrations, the cover, a hardcover print file and 3 bonus coloring pages.

Style

Soft, painterly 2D in warm bedtime colors.

Process

  1. Sketches for every page
  2. Layout and storyboard
  3. Full color
  4. Cover and print files

Every page was drawn by hand. The author approved the full storyboard before final art, and revisions were unlimited from sketch to final color. Each stage set took about 4–6 weeks.

Result

The book was published in 2025: The Magic Lovey on Amazon. Fern came back for a second book.
